Christian Crucifix and Agnieszka Bohosiewicz are currently leading the PEMA Historic Acropolis Rally Regularity following the completion of the first leg. The category has seen intense competition, with constant changes at the top, confirming that the rally promises to be thrilling until the very end.
The PEMA Historic Acropolis Rally Regularity convoy started from Athens, with the Ceremonial Start taking place on Friday, September 5. The first leg included seven precision tests covering a total of 365 km, passing through Corinth, Akrata, and Kleitoria before concluding in the historic town of Ancient Olympia, where the crews will spend the night.
Crucifix-Bohosiewicz, who took the lead from the very first test, briefly lost the top spot but quickly regained it. The 2021 event winner, driving a 1985 Peugeot 205, is closely pursued by Aris Georgosopoulos – Nikos Kontopos, who are aiming to double their successes this year in their 1971 Fiat 128 Rally.
In third place are Eleftherios Liakos – Dimitrios Liakos (Ford Escort – 1975), followed by Georgi Andonov – Yordanka Andonova (Volvo 244 GLE) in fourth. The fifth position went to two-time Greek champions Christos Chatzikonstantinou – Manolis Dimakareas (Volkswagen Golf II GTi), with Akis Abastado – Makis Malakis (Toyota Celica STi – 1992) close behind. Gerasimos Katochianos – Georgios Katochianos (Ford Fiesta MKI 1981) hold seventh, followed by Ioannis Katsaounis – Ioulios Iatridis (Volkswagen Golf I 1979) in eighth. Former leaders Iosif Lagakis – Nikitas Tsalikis (Subaru Legacy – 1992) dropped to ninth, while Dimitris Poriotis – Michalis Siettos (Toyota Starlet KP60 – 1979) round out the top ten. Bulgarians Dimitar Nenov – Stanislava Ilieva (Mercedes-Benz 190E 1984) and Ilias Lalousis – Konstantinos Kotsiris (Peugeot 306 GTi – 1999) follow in the overall standings.
The second leg of the rally will start on the morning of Saturday, September 6, from historic Ancient Olympia. A special highlight is the marathon night stage, over 40 km around the imposing Velouchi mountains, featuring an impressive passage through a ski tunnel. The leg concludes late on Saturday night in Karpenisi, one of Greece’s most scenic mountain destinations, where participants will enjoy authentic Greek hospitality in a city that blends tradition and natural beauty. The second leg covers a total of 405 km.
