Sporting Gallery Historic Acropolis Rally – Keeping its European spirit alive

Greece will host the opening round of the 2026 FIA European Historic Gravel Rally Championship on May 23–24, 2026. The Historic Acropolis Rally retains its international prestige for the fourth consecutive year, serving as the first event of the newly established gravel championship under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

The rally’s “rebirth” came in 2022, when it was part of the Greek Historic Rally Championship, while also being a candidate event for inclusion in the European calendar. Shortly after, this ambition became reality: the event received official FIA approval, and since 2023, it has been a fixture in the FIA European Historic Rally Championship calendar, marking a triumphant return after a six-year absence. Since then, it has consistently stood out as one of the flagship events of the series.

For 2026, the FIA introduces two separate championships — one for tarmac and one for gravel. The Historic Acropolis Rally will raise the curtain on the gravel championship on May 23–24. The action will then move to Portugal for the second round on June 19–20, followed by the Lahti Historic Rally in Finland from August 20–22, and the East Sweden European Historic Rally on August 28–29. The season finale will take place in Italy, with the Rally del Brunello Storico on November 27–28, 2026.

Returning to the spring calendar, the 2026 Historic Acropolis Rally is already in the planning stages — promising once again a celebration of speed, heritage, and motorsport passion in the heart of Greece.
